DISPUTE RESOLUTION
Appointment of Independent Adjudicators
The Education (Additional Support for Learning) (Scotland) Act 2004, as amended in 2009, introduced dispute resolution as a means of resolving disagreements between an education authority and parents or young people about specified matters including a decision, or failure by, the education authority. This could be about the assessment of additional support needs or the level of support. The formal review is carried out by an independent adjudicator who makes a written report with recommendations to the education authority as to how the dispute should be resolved. This is generally a paper-based exercise.
We are looking for a number of independent adjudicators who have current knowledge and experience of children with additional support needs, who have an understanding of the way in which the education sector (especially schools) operate, and with the ability to be objective, impartial and actively demonstrate independence of thought.
Fee per case - £380.
Closing date: completed applications must be received on or before Friday 26 June 2010.
