A unique one-day seminar, forming part of Children in Scotland's EU programme Working for Inclusion.  The event will enable delegates to interact with our partners from across Europe, and explore policies and practice relating to diversity, inclusion and the early years workforce.

The seminar will consider what is meant by diversity, in particular as it relates to ethnicity, language, disability and gender, and what is required to strengthen the role of the early years workforce in promoting social inclusion and addressing poverty.

Seminar aims and objectives

The seminar will:

  • examine what is meant by diversity
  • look at what qualities, values and ethics are required to work with diversity
  • consider the implications of diversity for workforce roles, qualifications and development
  • consider how early years services can be more representative, in terms of diversity, of the communities they serve

Who should attend?

The seminar is relevant for all those involved in working in the development and planning of services across education, health, social work, residential care, fostering, play, youth services, family support services, early years, out of school care, leisure, recreation and the arts, working at local, regional and national levels.
