Recruitment process

Applications are invited by post or electronically. Simply download the guidance notes, application form and the equal opportunities monitoring form, complete both of the forms and return them to us.

Applicants should use either application form 1, which should be printed off, completed and posted to us, or application form 2, which should be downloaded, completed electronically, and printed off and posted or emailed to us.

Please ensure that you refer to the guidance notes when completing the application form.

A separate application form should be completed for each post.

If posting applications then please send them addressed to the HR & Office Manager and clearly label envelope ‘Private and Confidential’.

Shortlisting will take place as soon after the closing date as is possible. Pages 1 and 2 of all application forms are removed prior to shortlisting. This ensures that the shortlisting panel see only information relevant to your application and helps to prevent discrimination.

Interviews will be held on the date advertised. Attempts will be made to contact shortlisted candidates by telephone to invite to interview. We do not contact those candidates who have been unsuccessful. Therefore, if you have not heard from us by the interview date you should assume that your application has been unsuccessful.

When we telephone to invite you for interview we will ask if you have any particular requirements. We will confirm with you who your referees are and that we can request a written reference from them prior to interview. We will also let you know who will be in the interview panel, and if relevant, any preparatory work you have to do.

A letter will be sent out confirming all of this information. A verification statement will be included, advising you which documents you need to bring to your interview. If the post that you have applied for is subject to criminal records checks a Self Disclosure Form will also be included. The Verification statement should be completed and brought with the appropriate accompanying documents to the interview.

Most interviews will be conducted at Princes House and will involve a written exercise, details of which will be given on the day, followed by an interview normally lasting no longer than 45 minutes. Some posts may also require a presentation or similar to be prepared in advance. If this is required you will be given details when invited to interview. You will also be given the chance to book any equipment that you might require.

When you arrive for interview you will first have a brief meeting where verification checks will be carried out, and Self Disclosure forms discussed if necessary. Following this, you will be required to complete your written exercise. You will then be taken for interview. The total process should last no longer than 1 hour and 45 minutes.

After the interviews have taken place, all relevant references have been received and a decision has been made, we will contact unsuccesful candidates by phone.
