See our forward plan for details of how we plan to implement our aims and beliefs

Children in Scotland aims:

  • To enable and promote the exchange of information between children, young people and their families, practitioners, policy makers and politicians.
  • To research, identify and promote the development of child, young person and family centred policies and practice which will improve the quality of life for Scotland’s children, young people and their families.
  • To support through training, networking and information exchange the development of common understanding and sharing of values and experience between sectors, agencies and professional groups working with children, young people and their families.

Children in Scotland believes:

  • All children and young people are of equal worth, whatever their ability, colour ethnicity, gender, health, religion, sexual orientation or social class.
  • Children and young people have rights to protection, provision and participation in decisions affecting them, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  • Families are entitled to support and assistance to fulfil their responsibilities towards Children in Scotland.
  • Children and young people should be seen as the responsibility of society as a whole as well as of their families.
