Governance
Children in Scotland is a Company Limited by Guarantee (Registered in Scotland No. 83383) and a Charity (No: SC003527).

Children in Scotland is governed by a board of directors advised by a policy committee drawn from our extensive membership.The board of directors is responsible for the management of the organisation. The Board meets up to six times a year:

• A convener
• Two vice-conveners
• The treasurer ­ co-opted by the board
• Two directors elected by the policy committee from voluntary members
• One director nominated by the COSLA (convention of Scottish local authorities) representatives to the policy committee
• One director to be nominated by the policy committee from agencies concerned with racial discrimination, consumer and trade union interests, health councils and professional organisations representing social work and education or directors thereof
• Up to two directors co-opted by the board.

There are various sub-committees and advisory groups of the board of directors, which deal with specific areas of the organisation. These committees are listed below and further details can be found in our annual reports.

An annual general meeting is held at Children in Scotland's annual conference, usually in the first week of November. All members are invited to attend. The next AGM will be in November 2008.
