Who are we? 2008 marked the fifteenth anniversary of Children in Scotland, the united voice of over 400 voluntary, statutory and professional organisations and individuals working with and for children, young people and their families throughout Scotland. Children in Scotland is a unique forum for sharing and exchanging skills and expertise, combining knowledge and experience to make Scotland a better place for all children and young people. The organisation was established in 1983 as the Scottish Child and Family Alliance and changed its name in June 1993 to Children in Scotland: working for children and their families (Clann an Alba). It currently has over 400 members from all over Scotland. Children in Scotland is funded by its members, by grants from the Scottish Executive, by voluntary agencies, local authorities, corporate trusts and individual donations. A wide range of funders is essential to ensure its effectiveness and independence in speaking out for Scotland’s children, young people and families. Children in Scotland works in partnership with the National Children’s Bureau and Children in Wales. Follow the what we do link on the left for details of our work and copies of our annual reports. |
