Listening to children and young people whose parent or carer is HIV positive (1999 - 2002)
Funded by a grant from the Community Fund , (formerly the National Lottery Charities Board), the research project carried out a study of Scottish children whose parent or carer is HIV positive. To date, there has been little qualitative research investigating the lives of children affected by HIV, or of their views.

Children and Science: Young children's perceptions and experience of science
Children in Scotland conducted a 6 month research study exploring children’s views, experiences and characterisations of science both in and out of school. The reseach was funded by the Scottish Executive Education Department.

‘My turn to talk?’ The participation of looked after and accommodated children in decision-making concerning their care (2006)
During 2005, this small-scale, in-depth study explored looked after and accommodated children's experiences of having their views taken into account by professionals involved in their care. It also explored the experiences and views of key professionals involved. Qualitative interviews were carried out with looked after and accommodated children between the ages of 9 and 12; social workers; reviewing officers; and children's rights officers. The research covered children's participation on an everyday level and in decision-making meetings. e.g., Children Review meetings and Children's Hearings. The project was funded by The Scottish Executive Education Department Sponsored Research Programme.

Consultation of parents on the creation, development and evaluation of parent support services
This research project, based within the Scottish Parenting Forum, investigated the reality of parental participation in the creation, development and evaluation of parental support services in Scotland.
This project:
Explored the extent to which parent support services were inclusive in their approach to consulting with parents, with particular interest being placed on the sub-groups of fathers, parents from black and ethnic minorities and parents with disabilities.
Explored the level to which all groups of parents are consulted on the creation, development and evaluation of parent support services in Scotland.
Raised awareness of the importance of parental consultation on the creation, development and evaluation of parent support services and to disseminate the research findings in order to encourage good practice both in terms of inclusion and of level of participation.
