Overarching Goal 2007-10
To increase membership and influence and develop appropriate structures to help us build better childhoods for Scotland’s children and young people.
The focus for all our work to ensure we achieve this outcome will be:
- listening carefully
- evaluating the available information thoroughly
- sharing what has been learned effectively and
- doing whatever is required to impact young lives positively
Key developments planned for the next three years.
The 2007-2010 programme will build on the work undertaken to date and take account of government priorities and new developments for children, young people and families.
Key developments planned include:
- Increasing the knowledge base of Children in Scotland so that all our efforts to build better childhoods are based upon what works and what has been learned from our own, and others, experiences.
- Continuing to monitor, analyse and influence the work of parliament within Scotland, UK and Europe, the Scottish Executive and other relevant bodies on all issues significantly affecting children and young people, directly, with, through and for our members.
- Further promoting the participation of children, young people and their families as well as Children in Scotland members in policy development, service delivery and programme evaluation.
- Widening our work in supporting children, young people with additional support needs and their families and carers working both regionally and nationally to ensure an improvement in the quality of their lives.
- Increasing our range of training and events that make a difference to the lives of children and their families and those that work with them. We aim to strengthen Children in Scotland’s role as a catalyst for moving integrated children’s services from rhetoric to reality.
- Extending and further expanding our high quality magazines and newsletters and further developing our publications programmes.
- Enhancing our partnerships with relevant agencies and members, in particular YouthLink Scotland.
- Continuing to increase our membership and extend coverage with a targeted focus on under represented sectors.
- Maintaining our Investors in People status with a clear focus on staff development and building on our organisational wide learning culture.
- Increasing the quality and cost effectiveness of our services through advancements in information and communications technologies.
