Research
Children in Scotland’s research team conducts both qualitative and
quantitative research. While the research projects are very diverse,
priority is given to work that enhances the knowledge base behind Children in Scotland's Manifesto and the organisation's on-going policy activities and program development. Research commissioned by member organisations also is welcome.

Recent work includes:

• a study of the early years and childcare workforce in two local
  authorities;
• a survey of children and young people for Scotland's Child Safety Action Plan;
• a three-year, Lottery-funded project examining pupil councils across
  Scotland;
• a UK national report and case studies on out of school childcare in
  disadvantaged areas.

Children in Scotland's research department is headed by Dr Jonathan Sher, Director of Research, Policy and Practice Development. The staff includes three Research Officers: Dr Fungi Gwanzura-Ottemoller, Catriona Thomson and Heike Tarara. Occasionally, short-term Research Associates also are employed.
