What is the Additional Support Needs Network?

Led by Children in Scotland and funded by the Scottish Executive, the network is a collaboration of organisations and individuals working with children and young people who have additional support needs.

The network aims to represent the interests of children, young people and families who require a specialised approach from services to meet their communication, learning, care, physical, emotional and recreational needs.

It does this by:

  • providing opportunities for network members to exchange information and good practice, highlight concerns and contribute to the policy-making process
  • acting as a resource to enable policy makers to draw on a wealth of experience and expertise across the broad spectrum of additional support needs
  • Taking forward work in response to policy and legislation, and issues identified by network members
Supporting network members to facilitate the involvement of children, young people and their families in national level decision-making.
