Children, Fathers and Fatherhood

A National Approach to Issues Affecting Children and their Fathers in Scotland

Children, Fathers and Fatherhood was a three-year project (2005-2008) that aimed to raise awareness of issues affecting children in their relationships with their fathers and to encourage all fathers to develop their fatherhood skills.

The project was funded by the Scottish Executive and run in partnership with Fathers Direct and the Equal Opportunities Commission.

The project aimed to:

  • provide up-to-date information online on policy, projects and services for fathers and professionals
  • produce training materials tailored to the needs of fathers and professionals in Scotland
  • run conferences, seminars and workshops addressing relevant issues
  • inform and influence policy in the best interests of children
