Exploring the world and beyond: young children as scientists
Children in Europe annual conference

Successfully developing and maintaining children’s interest in science requires an approach that encourages and helps them to explore their environment, construct their own theories and create meaning. Establishing spaces for children to help them discover the world on their own and encouraging a ‘hands-on’ approach are essential to successful science education.

This conference will debate the issues raised by Children in Europe’s examination of science learning for young children and will include examples of innovative science projects for children aged 0-14 years from across the UK and Europe.

Creating flourishing childhoods

This one-day seminar will provide an introduction to positive psychology and its applications in work with children, young people and families.

Delegates will learn about the importance of both positive and negative emotions, how they help us to build resilience and develop grit, and about the value of curiosity, joy, hope, efficacy, and engagement with life.

The day will introduce the new science of positive psychology through a mix of presentation, video and exercises, and will help managers and practitioners develop practical applications in their work. The morning will be partly reflective on the history and future of childhood, while the afternoon will focus on development of practice.
